World Travellers

Well, it has been quite awhile since my last post. Jo and I left Brunswick Heads (Byron Bay) in early February 2008. We sold almost all of our belongings, loaded the Camry, and drove to Perth. We took three weeks to get there, camping at beautiful spots along the way. We drove down the east coast, then turned east at the Victoria boarder. We then followed the Southern Ocean, along the Great Ocean Road, then across the Eyre Peninsula, and thru the Nullarbor. Then headed to the SW coastline of WA... how beautiful it is! Then on to Margaret River and up to Perth.

After a couple of weeks rest and many travel purchases, we boarded a flight to Thailand and started our trip around the world. To see many photos, clink on the link to picasaweb. We travelled for about nine months and then ended up on the east coast of Oz, spent a few weeks there and then flew to Perth. We have been in Perth ever since (xmas 08), and now live in Wembley Downs about one km from the beach.

Byron Bay Golf Course

These are two of my golf mates: Todd on the left and Bob on the right. We are on the 4th tee box. The last couple of Wednesday afternoons have been glorious days for golf. Perfect temperature with very little wind.

Cape Byron Kayaks - Curious Baby Dolphin

Well folks....I was just sitting there in my kayak....minding my own business, when.... a baby dolphin swam right up to me and seemed to want to play.... just like a puppy would want. It was one of the best experiences I have had kayaking in Byron Bay. The dolphin swam up, looked at me, wiggled then swam around quickly, then came back to me and did it again. What a special experience to witness. I have short video of it and the photo you see here is captured from the video. Enjoy...

Cape Byron Kayaks - Delinquent Poster

Sorry about not having posted in awhile. I've been quite busy this summer keeping the kayak business going. Also, I have moved house (from Byron Bay to Brunswick Heads) and have moved office (from Suffolk Park back into Byron Bay). I moved to Brunswick Heads to live with my partner, Jo Fawcett. She's fantastic and we have adjusted to living together. I have not used my camera in quite some time, but here is a picture of Jo and I at a little picnic (Rocky Creek Dam).

Cape Byron Kayaks - Thar She Blows!

It is that time of year again. The humpback whales are migrating from Hervey Bay, Qld. and cruising thru Byron Bay. Some days we even get closer to them than this! They come so close to us that you can hear them exhale.....whoooosh! Seeing the whales up close is something I will never forget. Amazing. They are huge. Forty feet long and about forty tons of lovely animal. You should see how gracefully they move. Sometimes they even wave at us with their fluke. And when they breach........WOW what a huge splash! I have never seen anything like it. (-:

Cape Byron Kayaks - Byron Sunset 29 July 06

We had storms here all week and finally all went calm. What a beauty. This picture was taken from the Pass looking towards Mt. Warning.

Cape Byron Kayaks - Turtles Ahoy!

We see loggerback sea turtles nearly all the time. Sea turtles are more difficult to spot though because they spend most of their time under the water. Good thing Byron Bay has very clear water. Check out this photo I took while floating by a turtle. The water was about 12' (4m) deep. Smile...!

Cape Byron Kayaks - Look at the Dolphin

We see dolphins nearly every time we go on a tour. In fact, we guarantee that if you do not see dolphins, you get a free return trip. How about that!

Cape Byron Kayaks - All Ages Welcome

Here is a shot of Bruno and I. Bruno is soon to be my mate Kenny's uncle-in-law. Bruno loved having the dolphins come right up to his kayak. He could not believe how close they were. (-:
